Beaches Near Portland, ME
Portland has ocean on its doorstep. Old Orchard Beach is about 19 miles south, roughly a 25-minute drive, with a pier and a long flat stretch of sand. Crescent Beach State Park in Cape Elizabeth is much closer for a quieter swim, and Reid State Park sits up the coast in Georgetown for rockier Maine scenery. Water temperatures stay cold through summer.
