Orient Beach State Park

40000 Main Road (Route 25), Orient, NY 11957

A 45,000-foot sand spit on Gardiners Bay at the tip of the North Fork — a National Natural Landmark and Audubon Important Bird Area with a rare maritime forest of red cedar, black-jack oak, and prickly-pear cactus. Sheltered bay water means calm swimming, and the scene is wilderness-quiet compared to the Hamptons south-shore circus.
